PILOT 3
GAV’s mission is to give animals a voice by making intuitive animal communication widely available to animals in care. GAV believes achieving this mission begins with collecting and sharing data on the potential for animal communication to positively impact the animals and the caretakers. While two prior pilots resulted in positive feedback, neither produced data in a format that was easily shareable. GAV immediately began working on designing Pilot 3 to resolve issues with data collection. Link to Why GAV is needed
Pilot 3 Focuses on the Importance of Listening to the Animals AND Collecting Relevant and Shareable Data
- In each communication session, the Communicator invites the dog to communicate anything it wants people to know, and then verbally conveys all information received to the organization’s representative attending the session. Pilot 3 also encourages the representatives to acknowledge whatever the dog expresses and to thank the dog for participating.
- Realizing the process needed to be streamlined to improve data collection and to minimize use of staff resources, GAV commissioned a developer to create an app for Pilot 3. Participating organizations can access the app, using any mobile phone or device, to Request a Communication Session, and, after the session, to respond to 2 short Surveys. Link to FAQ
- While each participating organization can specify topics for communication relevant to their dog and their organization, Pilot 3 also devotes part of each communication session to collecting data on topics pertinent to all dogs and organizations. These include the dog’s preferences for “forever homes and people”, preferences for “in kennel” and “out of kennel” enrichment, and whether the dog is experiencing pain or discomfort.
